BRYCE HARPER ARRIVES

The Washington Nationals announced just moments ago that they will be placing Ryan Zimmerman on the 15-day disabled list, and that they will be recalling mega-prospect Bryce Harper to make his Major League debut this Saturday in Dodger Stadium.
BREAKING: #Nationals will place Ryan Zimmerman on the 15-Day DL Saturday and recall OF Bryce Harper
— Washington Nationals (@Nationals) April 27, 2012
I've never seen a tweet that has so much good and bad news packed into 140 characters.
Zimmerman's DL trip, however, is not a huge surprise. His shoulder has been bothering him and after he was sent to see a specialist this week, a lot of people saw this coming. His bat is desperately needed, but the time to rest will do him well.
The big news, of course, is that Harper will make his Major League debut at just the age of 19. This has been a moment that has been anticipated by all Nats fans since the team drafted him No. 1 overall in 2010, but it is also one that has come faster than most would have imagined. He has not had a ton of experience in the minor leagues, and this promotion likely isn't permanent. The bottom line though, is that we've had a great taste of winning the past month, now we're going to get a taste of how much better it's going to get in the years to come.
In 20 games at Triple-A this season Harper hasn't dazzled. He has hit .250/.333/.375 with one home run and three RBI, but has come on strong as of late and there are few who have seen him play that think he can't get it done at the next level.
So if you had any Saturday plans, make sure to clear them up. Things just got a lot more interesting.
