Ian Desmond Out Of The Lineup For Second Day With Quad Injury

Ian Desmond is out of the lineup for the second consecutive day today with a quad injury.
Desmond first hurt his left quadriceps in the third inning of Friday's game after singling to left field. Nats manager Jim Riggleman ran out to first base to check on Desmond following the play, but the two decided to let him stay in the game. You could see Desmond attempting to stretch it out throughout the entirety of the game.
"I’ve never had anything like this before so I didn’t want to," Desmond told reporters in the club house following the game. "I knew my body was telling me I was to the point where it didn’t want me to push it anymore. I just backed off, I should be all right.”
Cora filled in admirably for Desmond yesterday. Despite going 0-3 he made several strong plays at sthortstop and helped the Nats allow just one run. He will fill in there again today.
Outside of a short paternity leave, Desmond had played all of the Nationals games this season. He played in 154 contests in 2010.
