Written by William Yoder on .

Following yesterday’s edition Nationals Today in which both Yahoo! And ESPN graded the offseason performance of the club; I went to Twitter to see what Washington’s digital fans had to say:

Personally, I'd say A- for effort, and B- for resiults.

The club certainly tried incredibly hard to land that starting pitcher, going after Lee, Greinke, Pavano and others...however I think they could have done more to bolster their outfield outside of Werth.

In terms of results, you can't give them a grade higher than a B- in my book because while they did give it their all they failed to get a starter. Their moves in the bullpen and to add depth to their infield were great, but their starting rotation is still questionable entering 2011.

I don't really know how to grade this, but I think they deserve As in both departments and certainly in effort. I really don't understand how the results can be any lower than a B: They didn't overpay too much for Werth and who would have guessed that they could have even acquired him? LaRoche was a reasonably good pick-up as well. I think when this offseason will look really smart is next offseason, when they can attract a few good pitchers.

I obviously have spring traning fever and was in overly optomistic mood yesterday, over estimating the results. I think a C would have been more like it since we didn't keep Dunn and didn't get a wow-factor replacement, and couldn't get a #1 starter. However, the results definitely are an improvement and I am excited about this season, which is why I got carried away.
