Johnn Lannan grew up in Long Beach, New York. He went to Siena College, located in Loudonville, New York, and as a result he has been a New York Yankee fan his entire life.

He couldn’t have dreamt up a better homecoming.

Tonight against the Yankees the lenky lefty pitched into the 9th inning, allowing only four hits, two earned runs, and one walk while striking out four. The effort was good enough for a 3-2 Nats victory and the pitchers fourth win on the year.

This is the second time Lannan has pitched into the 9th inning against a team from New York this year. On June 6th, only two starts ago, Lannan went head to head with the New York Mets, pitching a complete game while only allowing one unearned run.

Quite simply Lannan owns the city of New York.

With this victory Lannan has now notched three wins in a row. Unfortunately for the Nats, those three wins are the last three the Nationals have earned themselves.

Despite Lannan’s dominance, the victory Wednesday was a team effort. Cristian Guzman reached three times on base hits and Nick Johnson drove in two. Adam Dunn slugged his 18th homer and both Corey Patterson and Willie Harris snagged a base a piece.

Mike MacDougal earned his first save of the year, and worked himself out of a jam with a runner on third in the bottom of the 9th.
