Many say one of the greatest non-official American holidays is that of Opening Day. Today the Nats embark on a new season with new possibilities. Past seasons are mere memories, echoes through time that remind us of not only past players and past campaigns, but previous times in our life that we can reflect on through baseball. The sport has long been the great unifier in this nation and has served as a catalyst to bring families, cities, fathers and sons together.
So enjoy today as the Nationals embark on what could be a breakthrough year for the young guns. Take the day in as much you can, because it may be the only time the Nats are in first place all year.
Today is a day for baseball, a day for America.
